Snake eating Catfish

Okay yesterday Tommy was out fishing on the dock and called to me to bring the camera, This is what he was watching
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIERLEBgB-4
This is a big water snake catching a catfish, the snake is about 3-4 foot and the fish is10=12 inches long
We kept watching and the snake got the fish to the bank(had to put Callie in the garage-she was barking like crazy) and had it by the side of the mouth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMqm2p0EU4s
In this last video the snake was able to get the fish by the front of its head and started swallowing it, the fish was still alive at this point, but I don't think it lasted much longer Right after this the snake took the fish into the water and we couldn't see it anymore. Would have like to see how long it took to eat the whole fish and what the snake looked like with the fish inside it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGbG2FmRwIo

garden

be sure to check out the square foot gardening page, it has some great pictures. look on the left side of page to see the link

Blue table

here is the picture of the table finished in blue (see previous post to see what it looked like when I brought it). What do you think, do you like the blue. The chair is from Pier One, brought two of them last year on clearance, really like them on the deck, and they are really comfortable.  And that is some strawberry, orange lemonaid that taste so so good. Here is the view from this chair across the deck to the dock on the water

also have been working on some lamps that I brought at goodwill and garage sales.  I found these two matching crystal lamps at goodwill for 7.99 each, thought that was a great price, I am working on painting them white and finding shades for them. . Keep in touch for the final pictures.  the floor lamp  was a find at a garage sale for 1.50(yes thats right 1.50) i forgot to get a before picture, but it was that brassy gold color, i painted it white spray paint, then hand painted the purple and green, it is for the guest room. still have some work to do on the shade. Do you think it needs  more painting done to the base, i'm still undecided, thought i would live with it for awhile and see. the last lamp is also for the guest room,  got it at goodwill ( I do shop there alot) painted white, added flowers to the inside, and added trim and beads to a shade from (again) goodwill.  I think i will do the shade for the floor lamp with the same trim.

i got this cabinet at goodwill for 9.99, it has a glass front door, that i already took off to prime it for painting. these cabinets were used for stereo equipment before i-pod became the norm. I needed something to put the box for my tv dish and my dvd player in since we put the tv over the fireplace, its hard to find a cabinet that isn't short and wide, i needed one that fit a certain spot.

this is a little table i found out at trade days, at first i thought i would use it for a magazine rack but now i think i am going to use it on the deck for a table. i
am thinking of spraying it an aqua blue and using it with the two green wicker chairs, i can just see it with a glass of lemonaide on it. i'll post a picture when it is done.

new day

well, i'm back, lets see if it lasts.
i have been collecting glasswear for awhile to make into cake plates, apothecary jars, and whatever
and other treasures i have found between canton first monday, larrys trade days, and goodwill and other thrift stores. I like taking something old and making it into something else. i found many of these ideas all over the web, its really amazing all the creativity that is in the world. its fun to see what different people do with things that other people don't want anymore. i guess i've gotten old because everything from my childhood is now 'vintage and antique'.

BACK TO IT

Well its been almost a year since I started this blog, and it only had 1 post on it. Now that is really bad. Hopefully this is the start of something new. I am going to try to post something everyday of what is going on 'down in the boondocks.

we have done a lot of work on the house and still have alot to do. I'll try to post some pictures, but some of them are stuck on the external hard drive that decided not to work. So we will just have to go from here.

have most of the living/dining/kitchen done-painted, floor, furniture. So far everything is just how we want it. It has taken awhile but when you have to buy everything thats the way it goes. (for those that don't know, we lost everything in Hurricane Ike). it's has been fun to decorate the way we want with a lot of help from our daughter who is a great designer. The master bedroom is coming along great, walls painted ,floor done furniture in place. I am now working on the guest bedroom, it looks great. Walls and ceiling, trim done, floor still has to be laid, and we still have to get the bed(have the mattresses, the bed is at our sons in Fort Worth. This room has been fun to do, because it is all my ideas and a lot of it is stuff I have found and redone. Still have the craft room/office to do(should have done that first with all the project I want to do). Have some ideas on what I want to do, again my daughter is going to be a big help on this room.
